Signs That You Need to Replace Your Tires

Presidential Auto Leasing & Sales in Delray Beach, Florida is proud to have a service department that will ensure you drive away on safe, dependable tires. If you aren’t sure whether or not your tires require replacement, check out these common indications that it’s time for new tires:

Weathering

All tires experience weathering over time. Constant exposure to the elements will lead to cracks in between the tread blocks and inside the sidewall, which leave the inner parts of your tire vulnerable. If you notice any cracks or your tires are looking beat up and ragged, take your car to Presidential’s service department.

Vibration

You shouldn’t hear or feel vibrations coming from your tires. It can be a sign that the tires are unbalanced or out of round. Often, vibrations will be caused from inner belts shifting and separating.

Bulging

Bulges in your tire can come from major impacts with potholes, curbs, or other hazards. When air gets in between the inner and outer materials of the tire, bulges occur, and can lead to blowouts and serious damage.

Tread Depth

Tread slowly wears away over time, resulting in a lower tread depth and less grip. If your tread depth is 2/32nds of an inch, it is too low and must be replaced. A common way to measure your tread depth is to place a penny head first into the tread; if part of Lincoln’s head is covered, you have more than 2/32nds of an inch of tread. If not, you need a replacement.

Age

The typical recommendation from tire manufacturers is five to six years between replacements, with 10 years being the absolute maximum. A date stamp on the tire’s sidewall states the date it was manufactured so you can stay on schedule. Always keep an eye on your tires; the more you use them, the more they break down.
